Richard K. Ruminski Named SAC in Milwaukee

Ruminski will lead the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Milwaukee Field Office

Washington, D.C. – FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III has appointed Richard K. Ruminski, a 20-year veteran of the FBI, as the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the FBI’s Milwaukee Field Office. SAC Ruminski will lead a diverse team of professionals assigned to fighting domestic and international terrorism as well as combatting traditional criminal matters in Wisconsin. He is replacing James E. Finch who was recently named Assistant Director of the FBI’s Cyber Division.

Mr. Ruminski began his career in 1986 in the Washington D.C. Division of the FBI. He was transferred to the Chicago Division in 1987, where he worked counterintelligence, violent crime, white collar crime and drug matters. In May 1997, he was promoted to supervisor in the Domestic Terrorism Operations Unit at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and later served as an Assistant Inspector in the Inspection Division from May 1999 to May 2000. In October 2000, Mr. Ruminski was selected as a Field Supervisor in the Richmond Division over a squad with investigative responsibility for the counterterrorism, counterintelligence, civil rights and applicant programs.

In April 2003, Mr. Ruminski was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge in the Chicago Division where he managed five counterterrorism squads, O’Hare and Midway Airports, and a resident agency. In July 2004, Mr. Ruminski was designated as the Administrative Assistant Special Agent in Charge and later assumed responsibilities as the Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Division from November 2004 to January 2005. In February 2005, Mr. Ruminski was promoted to FBI Headquarters as an Inspector where he led inspection teams to FBI Field offices, Headquarters Divisions, and overseas Legal Attaché offices.

Mr. Ruminski and his wife, Pam, are the parents of three daughters.
