Keith L. Bennett Named SAC Cincinnati

Keith L. Bennett has been named Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the FBI's Cincinnati Division. Director Robert S. Mueller, III, appointed him to this position to replace former SAC Timothy P. Murphy, who now serves as Assistant Director of the Finance Division at FBI Headquarters. Most recently, Mr. Bennett served as special assistant to Director Mueller.

Mr. Bennett entered on duty as a special agent in December 1987. Upon completion of training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, he reported to the Salt Lake City Division in Utah, where he investigated white collar crime and drug matters. In 1993, he was transferred to the San Diego Division, where he continued to investigate drug matters.

Mr. Bennett was promoted to FBI Headquarter in 1998 as a supervisory special agent in the Criminal Investigative Division's Program Management and Coordination Unit. In 2000, he was promoted to field supervisor in the San Diego Division. While there, Mr. Bennett supervised a drug intelligence squad and a counterterrorism squad.

In 2003, Mr. Bennett returned to FBI Headquarters as a team leader in the Inspection Division. Mr. Bennett returned to San Diego in 2004, where he supervised an alien smuggling squad. He was promoted in 2005 to the position of Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix Division. Mr. Bennett served as the Acting SAC of the Phoenix Division from March through May 2006.

Mr. Bennett was appointed special assistant to Director Mueller in 2006. During his tenure, Mr. Bennett served as Director Mueller's counselor on a variety of policy issues, and assisted with day-to-day administrative matters.

Mr. Bennett was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1978. Prior to entering on duty with the FBI, Mr. Bennett served on active duty in the U.S. Navy, and following his military service, was employed with the management consulting firm of Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington D.C.
