  1. Detroit: Eighteen Charged for Medicare Fraud Involving $28 Million in False Claims

    Eighteen individuals were charged for their participation in a series of separate Medicare fraud schemes involving home health and psychotherapy services. Full Story

  2. Headquarters: New FBI Deputy Director Appointed

    Director Robert S. Mueller, III announced that after 23 years of service, Deputy Director Timothy P. Murphy will retire from the FBI and Executive Assistant Director Sean M. Joyce has been appointed to serve as the FBI’s next deputy director. Full Story

  3. El Paso: Mom Sentenced to Federal Prison in Connection with Death of Her Child

    Leesa Trujillo was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison in connection with the death of her 7-month-old child on August 10, 2009, on Fort Bliss. Full Story

  4. Honolulu: Three Honolulu Men Arrested on Extortion Charge

    Tory Winward, Curtis Swanson, and Jesse Yoshino, all Honolulu residents, were arrested on a charge of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by extortion in a criminal complaint. Full Story

  5. Albuquerque: Cochiti Pueblo Man Sentenced for Murdering His 95-Year-Old Grandmother

    Brian Joseph Chavez, a member of the Pueblo of Cochiti, was sentenced to a 25-year term of imprisonment for his second-degree murder conviction. Full Story

  6. Headquarters: National Center for Disaster Fraud to Coordinate Hurricane Irene Fraud Complaints

    The FBI and the National Center for Disaster Fraud established a telephone hotline, (866) 720-5721, to report suspected fraud associated with relief efforts associated with Hurricane Irene. The number is for the purpose of reporting suspected scams being perpetrated by criminals in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene and is staffed by a live operator 24 hours a day, seven days a week.   7. Boston: Brookline Man Pleads Guilty to Foreign Economic Espionage

    Elliot Doxer pled guilty to foreign economic espionage. This is the first prosecution in Massachusetts for foreign economic espionage and only the eighth in the nation. Doxer provided information over an 18-month period to an undercover federal agent posing as an Israeli intelligence officer. Full Story

  8. Minneapolis: Twin Cities Area Brothers Sentenced for Operating a $4 Million Mortgage Fraud Scheme

    Baretta Bork and Xavier Bork were sentenced for orchestrating a $4 million mortgage fraud scheme that defrauded 24 area lenders. Full Story

  9. Chicago: Reward Offered in Search for Missing Westmont Man

    A reward of up to $10,000 was announced for information leading to whereabouts of the disappearance of Anthony Zizzo. He was 71 years old when he disappeared and was last seen by his wife as he left their home on the morning of August 31, 2006. Full Story

  10. New Orleans: Former City Contractor Sentenced to More Than 17 Years in Prison

    Mark St. Pierre was sentenced to 210 months in prison for conspiracy, honest services wire fraud, bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds, and money laundering. Full Story
