  1. Boston: Cambridge Man Indicted for Making False Statements in the Boston Marathon Bombing Terrorism Investigation

    Robel Phillipos was indicted after having been previously charged via complaint in May 2013 with making a series of materially false statements to federal law enforcement officials during a terrorism investigation. Full Story

  2. New York: Member of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula Indicted

    Nigerian citizen Lawal Olaniyi Babafemi, aka “Abdullah” and “Ayatollah Mustapha,” allegedly traveled twice from Nigeria to Yemen to meet and train with leaders of the foreign terrorist organization al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the Yemen-based branch of al Qaeda. Full Story

  3. Chicago: Man Indicted for Allegedly Obstructing Justice and Soliciting the Murder of an Undercover FBI Agent

    Adel Daoud allegedly solicited the murder of an undercover FBI agent after the defendant was arrested last September and charged with attempting to detonate a purported bomb outside a bar in downtown Chicago. Full Story

    Andrew James Miller admitted to his participation in a scheme to hack into a variety of computers located in Massachusetts and elsewhere to sell access to the networks. Full Story

  5. San Antonio: Progreso Mayor and Other Public Officials Charged in Conjunction with Bribery Scheme

    Jose Guadalupe Vela, Jr. and his sons, Omar Leonel Vela and Michael Vela, were arrested for their alleged participation in a scheme to create a “pay-to-play” public contracting system in Progreso. Full Story

    Logan J. Smith and Victoria A. Cheek-Herrera admitted that they conspired to injure, oppress, threaten, and intimidate an African-American couple and their minor children in the free exercise of their constitutional rights to occupy and rent their home. Full Story

  7. Chicago: Former Chicago White Sox Scouting Executive Sentenced for Taking Kickbacks from Latin American Players’ Signing Bonuses

    David S. Wilder received two years in prison for accepting approximately $440,000 in kickbacks from the signing bonuses and contract buyouts that two of the team’s Latin American scouts paid to secure 23 prospective players between December 2004 and February 2008. Full Story
