FBI Recognized as an Ideal Employer by American Undergraduates in Recent Study Published in the Economist

Washington, D.C. — The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was recently ranked in the August 20 issue of The Economist magazine as the 10th most ‘Ideal Employer’ by a survey that was conducted with over 30,000 American students. The survey was conducted by Universum and it asked students to name their ideal employer. In 2004, the FBI was ranked #138 in the same survey, and in 2005, the FBI’s ranking rose to tenth.

Mary Hannagan, Acting Assistant Director for the Administrative Services Division stated: “To meet today’s national security mission, the FBI recognizes the importance of developing and training a cadre of personnel with a variety of backgrounds and skill sets. To support this personnel goal, the FBI has instituted various internship and student programs, as well as loan repayment plans and continuing academic programs. Each of these programs facilitates hiring the most accomplished graduates for the FBI’s professional staff, special agent, intelligence analyst, and linguist positions. The FBI mission demands an educated and diverse workplace trained in certain critical skills.

“The FBI has capitalized on the allocated funding which supports various initiatives that encourage recent college graduates to consider a career with the FBI. The survey reported on in August’s Economist highlights the payoff for initiating these programs. The FBI is proud to attract and partner with the best and brightest college graduates,” Hannagan said.
