Ruby Liberty Bell Robbery
01/26/2012Mollie Halpern: The FBI is looking for four suspects who allegedly stole the largest mined ruby in the world. The ruby is sculptured into an image of the Liberty Bell…
Scott Duffey: …surrounded by an eagle, and then that sculpture contains 50 diamonds.
Halpern: I’m Mollie Halpern of the Bureau, and this is Wanted by the FBI. The men made off with the ruby Liberty Bell during an armed robbery at Stuart Kingston Jewelers in Delaware last November. Special Agent Scott Duffey says the robbers tied up employees and ordered them to the ground.
Duffey: While you have several of the robbers smashing out display counters, you have another robber who tells the employee to take him to the vault area.
Halpern: That’s where one of the robbers bagged the ruby Liberty Bell. Meanwhile, the jewelry store owner who had run for help returned to the store.
Duffey: All four chase him out of the store; he goes one way, they decide to go to their getaway vehicle.
Halpern: They were last seen in a U-Haul-type van heading north on Interstate 95 outside of Philadelphia. To see surveillance photos, go to www.fbi.gov. If you have information, call your local FBI office.
