Mollie Halpern: The FBI needs your help solving the 15-year mystery of the disappearance of a girl from North Carolina. An up to $25,000 reward is available for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Asha Degree’s disappearance. FBI spokeswoman Shelly Lynch says the FBI and its law enforcement partners continue to work follow new leads.

Shelly Lynch: Knowing what happened to Asha Degree is a priority for her family and important to agents and detectives—including some who have been investigating this case since the day she disappeared.

Halpern: Asha was just 9 years old when her family last saw her sleeping in her bedroom on Valentine’s Day. At 4:00 that morning, drivers saw little Asha walking along the North Carolina Highway 18 in Shelby. More than a year later, Asha’s book bag was discovered buried along that same highway in Burke County.

Lynch: The FBI is using all of our resources to determine what happened to Asha.

Halpern: Photos of Asha, including one of what she may look like today, can be seen on fbi.gov. With Wanted by the FBI, I’m Mollie Halpern of the Bureau.
