War on Terror Exhibit

10/14/2011

Mollie Halpern: The evolution of the FBI’s mission to protect and defend the United States against terrorism comes to life through a popular exhibit.

Cathy Trost: The real takeaway message that the exhibit tells people is that everything changed dramatically on 9/11 for the FBI.

Halpern: I’m Mollie Halpern of the Bureau, and this FBI, This Week. The Newseum’s “War on Terror: The FBI’s New Focus” displays more than 60 never-before-seen artifacts once stored in FBI evidence lockers. Among the artifacts are pieces of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center and cell phones recovered from the rubble of the towers. Cathy Trost is the Newseum’s director of exhibit development…

Trost: The most personal artifacts are the most powerful. The exhibit just touched people in really dramatic ways.

Halpern: The exhibit will be on display through 2012. It’s an expansion of the Newseum’s “G-Men and Journalists” exhibit. The Newseum is one of several museums in our nation’s capital where the public can learn about the FBI. That’s what’s happening at the FBI, This Week.
