Mollie Halpern: FBI human trafficking cases have more than doubled since 2007.

David B. Rogers: Our cases have increased dramatically. I think it’s because we’re looking at it through a new prism that actually sees indicators of trafficking that we never saw before.

Halpern: I’m Mollie Halpern, and this is FBI, This Week. The FBI is observing National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, which is this January. Supervisory Special Agent David Rogers says raising awareness of what is known as modern-day slavery can help the Bureau put a stop to it.

Rogers: There may be trafficking right next door to you. A trafficking victim doesn’t know a demographic barrier, it doesn’t know a gender barrier.
