Mollie Halpern: They come from different professions, races, and religions, but they all share a commitment to partner with the FBI to make America a safer place.
I’m Mollie Halpern of the Bureau, and this is FBI, This Week. Every year, FBI Headquarters and all of the Bureau’s field offices select one civic leader or organization for the Director’s Community Leadership Award. Tammy Denbo, from the Tampa Division, is one of the 58 recipients.
Tammy Denbo: This is a tremendous honor to be given an award from the nation’s premiere law enforcement agency.
Halpern: Denbo is a graduate of the FBI’s Citizens Academy, where she learned first-hand about the Bureau. In her role as president of the local Citizens Academy Alumni Association, she makes a difference in the Tampa area.
Denbo: We could go in and do a community service project such as revitalizing a park or distributing Child Identification Kits. I would encourage people to get involved with the community outreach program of the FBI.
Halpern: To learn more about the FBI’s community outreach programs, visit www.fbi.gov.
