Mollie Halpern: A four-year FBI investigation dismantled a terrorist group and prevented violent jihad against Americans—including members of the United States military.

Paul Minella: They believed that jihad against non-Muslims was the right thing to do—meaning physical, actual violence and fighting.

Halpern: I’m Mollie Halpern of the FBI, and this is Gotcha, the Bureau’s closed case of the week.

Daniel Patrick Boyd is an American-born Islam convert who became radicalized. Boyd’s co-conspirators, including two of his sons, were known as the Triangle Terror Group. Special Agent Paul Minella says the Raleigh-Durham Joint Terrorism Task Force and its law enforcement partners began investigating after a tip from the Muslim community.

Minella: This was a joint investigation. We’ve had great cooperation from various different agencies.
