Hawaii Man Sentenced for Providing Defense Information to China

Noshir S. Gowadia, 66, of Maui, Hawaii, was sentenced late yesterday to 32 years in prison for giving classified national defense information to China. A federal jury last summer found Gowadia, an engineer with Northrop Grumman Corporation from approximately 1968 to 1986, guilty of criminal offenses relating to his design, for China, of a system that would render a Chinese cruise missile resistant to detection by infrared missiles.
