FBI Arrests Suspect Wanted for Extortion

Late yesterday afternoon, FBI special agents arrested John Michael Fowler, a 50-year-old male from Charlotte, North Carolina, without incident at Louis B. Armstrong International Airport in Kenner, Louisiana. An arrest warrant was issued prior to Fowler’s arrival.

Fowler traveled to New Orleans under the guise of having sexual relations with a local college student with whom he claims he had an on-going relationship since she was 16 years of age. After the victim ended the relationship, Fowler threatened to release photographs of her and then threatened her with sexual assault. Fowler also threatened to harm the victim’s sister and roommate, hence his reason for traveling to New Orleans.

Fowler was charged with extortion and transported to St. Charles Parish Prison for booking. He will make his initial court appearance this afternoon.
