Pharmacy Tech Sentenced for Embezzling $200,298 from Employer

MONROE, LA—United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced that Michael Andrew Wallace, 44, of Crossett, Ark., was sentenced today to 37 months in prison and five years’ supervised release for bank fraud and obstructing justice. Wallace was also ordered to pay $200,298.51 in restitution.

The investigation revealed that from 2007 to 2010, Wallace negotiated at least $200,298.51 in forged checks made payable and belonging to Hardin’s Compounding Pharmacy in West Monroe. Wallace was also charged with obstruction of justice by retaliating against a victim for sending threatening e-mails with the intent to harass the victim for cooperating with law enforcement in the bank fraud investigation.

This case was investigated by Special Agent Palmer Allen, Federal Bureau of Investigation-Monroe Resident Agency, and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney C. Mignonne Griffing.
