Brothers Plead Guilty to Federal Drug Charges

NEW ORLEANS, LA—ORIN N. HARRIS, a/k/a “O”, age 35, a resident of Slidell, Louisiana, and ETHAN DURAND HARRIS, age 30, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, pled guilty yesterday before U.S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey to crack cocaine distribution charges, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten today.
According to court documents, ETHAN HARRIS pled guilty to one count of facilitating and participating in a crack cocaine sale on behalf of his brother ORIN. ORIN HARRIS pled guilty to distributing crack cocaine on eight occasions and cocaine hydrochloride on two occasions, as well as possession of cocaine hydrochloride with the intent to distribute less than 500 grams.
ETHAN HARRIS faces a possible maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment, a $2 million, fine and four years of supervised release. ORIN HARRIS faces a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a $4 million fine, and five years’ supervised release. Sentencing is scheduled for April 19, 2011.
This case was investigated by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Edward J. Rivera of the Violent Crime Unit.
