FBI and NOPD Seeking Public’s Assistance in Identifying Bank Robbers

NEW ORLEANS—David W. Welker, Special Agent in Charge of the New Orleans Division of the FBI, along with NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas, requests the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals responsible for the robbery of the Chase Bank located at 3231 Gentilly Boulevard in New Orleans today.

At approximately 8:03 this morning, as bank employees were opening the bank, two black males approached and entered behind them. They demanded money, placed it in a black and tan backpack, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money. The robbers were seen running on foot lake-bound on Elysian Fields Avenue and took a right on Pelopidas Street. It is believed they then fled the area in an older-model faded white van. The back windows were painted white or shaded with a white curtain.

The robbers were described as clean-shaven black males, dressed in black wearing baseball caps. Robber 1, whose bank surveillance image is posted below, was approximately 6’2”-6’3” tall, late 20s-early 30s, and muscular. He wore a black and red Boston Red Sox cap and had a black semi-automatic handgun in his waistband. Robber 2 was approximately 5’10”-6’0” tall, in his late 20s, and had a slim build. He had a black and tan backpack and wore a black Chicago Bears baseball cap and tan shoes.

The public is asked to visit the website www.bandittrackerneworleans.com, featuring color photos and descriptions of this bank robber along with others and fugitives throughout the FBI’s New Orleans Division to see if they can assist the FBI in identifying and/or locating the captioned wanted individuals.

Anyone with information about today’s bank robbery is asked to call the FBI at 504-816-3000. The Metropolitan Orleans Bank Security Association (MOBSA) is offering a reward of up to $5,000. for information leading to the arrest and indictment of this bank robber.
