New Orleans Man Sentenced to Over 10 Years in Prison for Role in Drug Conspiracy

NEW ORLEANS, LA—LARRY ROSS, a/k/a “Big Whiskey”, a/k/a “Big Boy”, age 37, a resident of New Orleans, was sentenced today in federal court by U.S. District Judge Kurt D. Engelhardt to over 10 years (126 months) in prison for his role in a conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin and five kilograms or more of cocaine, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten In addition, the defendant was ordered to serve five years’ supervised release, during which time he will be under federal supervision and risks additional imprisonment should he violate any terms of the release.

According to court documents, in the summer of 2007, ROSS purchased multiple ounce quantities of heroin from Kevin Cockerham for distribution in the B.W. Cooper Housing Development. Cockerham previously pled guilty to charges of conspiracy and using a telephone in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense and is currently serving a 20-year prison term.

This case was investigated by special agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
