New Orleans Man Pleads Guilty to Heroin Distribution

DONALD ELLERY CARTER, a/k/a “Boss”, age 34, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, pled guilty today in federal court before U.S. District Judge Martin L.C. Feldman to federal charges of heroin distribution, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the factual basis, CARTER admitted today that on April 27, 2009, he distributed one hundred (100) grams or more of heroin. He also admitted to having a prior felony conviction.
The defendant faces a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a $4 million fine, and at least eight (8) years’ supervised release following a term of imprisonment. CARTER is scheduled to be sentenced on April 8, 2010.
The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Intelligence and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brian J. Capitelli.
