Bridgeport Heroin Trafficker Sentenced to 14 Years in Federal Prison

U.S. Attorney’s Office September 03, 2010
  • District of Connecticut (203) 821-3700

David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that LASHAWN RUFF, also known as “Shawny Rock,” 33, of First Avenue, Stratford, was sentenced today by Chief United States District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford to 168 months of imprisonment, followed by eight years of supervised release, for trafficking heroin in the Bridgeport area. On October 8, 2009, RUFF pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin.

This matter stems from “Operation G-Force,” a joint law enforcement investigation into Bridgeport-area narcotics trafficking headed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force. The year-long investigation, which led to the federal prosecution of 46 individuals, included a seven-month court-authorized wiretap; controlled purchases of cocaine, crack cocaine, and heroin; search and seizure warrants, and physical surveillance.

According to court documents and statements made in court, RUFF supplied substantial quantities of heroin to Malcolm White, also known as “Malc” and “X,” and Terrence Brown, also known as “Fugi,” who, in turn, distributed the narcotics to street level dealers in the Marina Village area of Bridgeport.

RUFF has been detained since his arrest on February 4, 2009.

White and Brown have pleaded guilty to narcotics conspiracy charges and await sentencing.

This matter was investigated by members of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, which is composed of federal agents and state and local officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation, the Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force, and the Bridgeport, Stamford, Stratford, Fairfield, Trumbull, and Norwalk Police Departments. This matter is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Hal Chen and Dave Vatti.
