Former FCI Danbury Inmate Admits Assaulting Correctional Officer

U.S. Attorney’s Office May 26, 2010
  • District of Connecticut (203) 821-3700

David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, today announced that SEASON HOPE EAGLEMAN, 25, pleaded guilty yesterday, May 25, before United States Magistrate Judge Thomas P. Smith in Hartford to one count of assaulting a correctional officer.

According to court documents and statements made in court, EAGLEMAN was a federal prisoner at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Danbury. On the evening of December 2, 2009, a correctional officer at FCI Danbury was transporting another inmate when EAGLEMAN reached through the bars of her own cell and grabbed at the inmate and the correctional officer. A second correctional officer quickly approached and assisted in separating EAGLEMAN from the correctional officer and the other inmate.

Approximately 30 minutes later, the first correctional officer approached EAGLEMAN’s cell due to bumping or banging noises coming from that area. The correctional officer made efforts to calm her. EAGLEMAN then reached through the bars in her cell and punched the correctional officer in the nose. The officer did not suffer a broken nose, but experienced pain and swelling, sought medical attention, and missed work.

When she is sentenced, EAGLEMAN faces a maximum term of imprisonment of eight years and a fine of up to $250,000.

EAGLEMAN has been transferred from FCI Danbury.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Anastasia Enos King.
