Montville Man Admits Robbing Four Connecticut Banks

Nora R. Dannehy, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that ANTHONY HALL, 49, of Montville, pleaded guilty today before United States District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant in Hartford to one count of armed bank robbery stemming from his robbery of a Waterford bank in June 2009. In pleading guilty, HALL admitted that he robbed three additional banks in 2008 and 2009.

According to court documents and statements made in court, HALL robbed a Putnam Bank branch in Ledyard on January 30, 2008, a Webster Bank branch in Waterford on June 11, 2009, a New Alliance Bank branch in East Haven on June 24, 2009, and a Hudson Valley Bank branch in Westport on July 10, 2009. In pleading guilty, HALL admitted that he pointed a firearm at a teller during the Ledyard, Waterford, and East Haven robberies.

HALL stole a total of $26,441 from the four banks.

Judge Bryant has scheduled sentencing for July 27, 2010, at which time HALL faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 25 years and a fine of up to $250,000.

HALL has been detained since his arrest by the United States Marshals Service on August 14, 2009, in Brooklyn, New York.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Connecticut State Police, and the Waterford, East Haven and Westport Police Departments. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Douglas P. Morabito.
