Mobile Man Receives 115 Months’ Imprisonment for Bank Robbery

United States Attorney Kenyen R. Brown today announced that William Normer Overstreet has received a 115-month prison sentence for robbing the Wells Fargo bank at the corner of Dauphin Street and Sage Avenue in June 2011.
Overstreet, age 48, had entered a guilty plea to one count of bank robbery in September 2011, admitting that he took $1,050 in the bank robbery. Today, United States District Judge Kristi DuBose adopted the government’s recommendation and sentenced Overstreet to 115 months, at the high end of advisory guidelines. In support of the sentence, Judge DuBose cited Overstreet’s significant criminal history, the seriousness of the crime, and the fact that Overstreet caused a wreck while fleeing from officers in a stolen vehicle two days after the robbery.
This case was investigated by the Mobile Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney D. Andrew Sigler.
