Crow Creek Man Pleads Guilty to Distribution of Marijuana

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Royce Kirkie, age 35, of Crow Creek, South Dakota, appeared before U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange on December 11, 2012, and pled guilty to the indictment that charged him with distribution of a controlled substance. The maximum penalty upon conviction is five years in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both.

On February 13, 2011, and April 13, 2011, Royce Kirkie knowingly and intentionally distributed marijuana, a Schedule I controlled substance.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay P. Miller is prosecuting the case. Kirkie was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending sentencing. A sentencing date has been set for March 11, 2013.
