Plymouth Man Sentenced for Possessing Child Pornography

U.S. Attorney's Office April 29, 2011
  • District of Minnesota (612) 664-5600

Earlier today in federal court in Minneapolis, a 28-year-old Plymouth man was sentenced for possessing images and videos of child pornography. United States District Court Judge John R. Tunheim sentenced Michael Dean Tingelstad to 18 months in prison on one count of possession of child pornography. Tingelstad was indicted on December 16, 2009, and pleaded guilty on April 21, 2010.

In his plea agreement, Tingelstad admitted that on September 28, 2006, he knowingly possessed computer images and video files of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

This case was the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle E. Jones.

The U.S. Department of Justice is committed to combating the sexual exploitation of children. For more information about these efforts, visit the Department's Project Safe Childhood website at www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
