Rapid City Man Sentenced for Role in Drug Conspiracy

PIERRE, SD—United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rapid City, South Dakota man charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance was sentenced on February 14, 2011, by United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Nicholaus Oliver Pearce, age 30, was sentenced to five years of supervised probation, including six months of home confinement, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.
Pearce was indicted for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance by a federal grand jury on July 14, 2009. The charge relates to Pearce conspiring with others to distribute and possess with intent to distribute marijuana in the District of South Dakota and elsewhere in 2007 and 2008. He pled guilty to the charge on November 22, 2010.
This case was investigated by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher prosecuted the case.
