  • District of South Dakota (605) 330-4400

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Ridgeview, South Dakota man who was found guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child by a federal jury in October 2010, was sentenced on January 10, 2011. United States District Judge Roberto A. Lange sentenced Brian Roach, age 39, to 126 months in custody, five years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Roach was indicted by a federal grand jury in March 2010, for an incident of aggravated sexual assault of a child near La Plant, South Dakota. The charge alleged that between March 1999 and February 2002, Roach sexually abused a female child who was younger than 12 years of age.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Mikal Hanson prosecuted the case.

Roach was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal to begin serving his sentence.
