Cannonball Woman Charged with Second Degree Murder

U.S. Attorney’s Office January 03, 2011
  • District of North Dakota (701) 297-7400

BISMARCK—United States Attorney Timothy Q. Purdon announced that on January 3, 2011, Ivanna Red Bow, 26, of Cannonball, North Dakota, was charged by complaint with second degree murder.

Red Bow is alleged to have stabbed another individual with a knife. That person died as a result of the injuries. The alleged incident occurred in the Cannonball area on December 30, 2010.

The statutory maximum sentence for second degree murder is life in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Indian Affairs - Standing Rock Agency.

Purdon stressed that a complaint is simply the method by which a person is charged with criminal activity and raises no inference of guilt. An individual is presumed innocent until competent evidence is presented to a jury that establishes guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

No further court dates have been scheduled at this time. Assistant United States Attorney Gary Delorme is prosecuting the case.
