Rapid City Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Abuse of a Minor

RAPID CITY, SD—U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Barry Joe White Face, age 22, of Rapid City, appeared before U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken on September 14, 2010, and pled guilty to a superseding information that charged him with sexual abuse of a minor. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 15 years of imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, or both. On or between December 1, 2006, and December 31, 2006, White Face knowingly engaged in a sex act with a 13-year-old girl. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Carolyn G. Olson. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for October 29, 2010. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
