Nebraska Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Contact with a Minor

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Sylvester Long Soldier, age 51, of Gordon, Nebraska, appeared before U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken on September 14, 2010, and pled guilty to a one count indictment that charged him with abusive sexual contact with a minor. The maximum penalty upon conviction is two years of imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. Long Soldier pled guilty to intentionally touching the genitalia of a 12-year-old girl with the intent to gratify his own sexual desire. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Carolyn G. Olson. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for December 6, 2010. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
