Porcupine Man Charged with Sexually Abusing Underage Girl

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Porcupine man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for engaging in a sexual act with an underage girl. Curtis Lee New Holy, age 18, was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 20, 2010, for sexual abuse and aggravated sexual abuse. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Mark A. Moreno on July 22, 2010, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The penalty upon conviction of each count is any term of years up to life imprisonment. The charges are merely accusations, and New Holy is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The investigation is being conducted by the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety, the BIA, and the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carolyn G. Olson is prosecuting the case. New Holy was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
