Oglala Woman Sentenced for Abuse of a Minor

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that an Oglala woman charged with abuse of a minor was sentenced on May 26, 2010, by US District Judge Richard H. Battey. Shannon J'Etta Brave, age 38, was sentenced to three years' probation and a $100 victim assessment. Brave was indicted by a federal grand jury on August 25, 2009. Between January 2007 and September 2008, Brave repeatedly exposed her minor daughter to an unsafe environment. She pled guilty to the offense on March 10, 2010. This case was investigated by the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Carolyn G. Olson prosecuted the case.
