St. Paul Man Pleads Guilty to Robbing U.S. Bank on Payne Avenue

A 31-year-old St. Paul man pleaded guilty today in federal court to the September 3, 2009, robbery of the US Bank located in the 1000 block of Payne Avenue. Appearing before United States District Court Judge Joan N. Ericksen in Minneapolis, Antoine Jackson pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery. Jackson was indicted on September 22, 2009.
In his plea agreement, Jackson admitted taking $1,824 from the bank. According to a Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit, at 8:50 a.m. on September 3, the robber, later identified as Jackson, handed a bank teller a note that read, “Give me the money now! No! dye packs 1 min. Big bills first nothing to lose.” The back side of the note read, “U better hope I make it out!”
Jackson then grabbed cash from the teller, stuffed it into his pocket, and left on foot. He was apprehended by authorities at 9:05 a.m., when they found him hiding in the yard of a home three blocks from the bank. The money from the bank was in his possession.
Jackson faces a potential maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for his crime. Judge Ericksen will determine his sentence at a future date. This case is the result of an investigation by the St. Paul Police Department and the FBI. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney William J. Otteson.
