Pine Ridge Man Appears Before Judge on Larceny Charges

United States Attorney Marty J. Jackley announced that a man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Larceny. Robert Leeds, age 35, of Pine Ridge, was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 21, 2009, for Larceny; Aiding and Abetting. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on August 25, 2009, and pleaded not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is five years' imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. The charge is merely an accusation and Leeds is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Assistant United States Attorney Jeremy R. Jehangiri is prosecuting the case. Leeds was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshals. A trial date has not been set yet.
