MADISON, WI—John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Roger Aleshire, 49, of Superior, Wis., was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge James Peterson to 25 years in federal prison for producing child pornography. This period of incarceration will be followed by a life-time period of supervised release. Aleshire pleaded guilty to this charge on November 5, 2014.

Superior Police Department detectives executed a search warrant at Aleshire’s home after getting a report that he had taken pictures of a child’s genital area. Through their investigation, officers determined that Aleshire videotaped a different child’s vaginal area while she was using the bathroom at his home. They also determined that Aleshire had a prior conviction for sexually assaulting a minor.

In sentencing the defendant, Judge Peterson said that Aleshire exploited the child he videotaped in his home for his own selfish interests. He also noted that while 25 years was the minimum sentence Aleshire was eligible for, it was an appropriate sentence for him.

The charge against Aleshire was the result of an investigation conducted by the Superior Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, Lake Superior Forensic Technology & Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Altman.
