On Wednesday, January 21, 2015, Robert J. Shields, Jr., Special Agent in Charge of the Milwaukee Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), joined Dr. Marcus L. Arrington, principal of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) School (K-8), for the launch of the FBI’s Adopt-A-School Program for the middle school students at MLK School located at 3275 North 3rd Street in Milwaukee.

The Adopt-A-School Program is a nationwide initiative that puts FBI special agents and staff members in local schools building relationships and trust between youth and law enforcement. The FBI Milwaukee Division worked with Milwaukee Public School (MPS) officials in designating MLK School for the 15-week Junior Special Agent program, January 21 through April 29, 2015. Throughout the program, FBI representatives will talk to students about the history and mission of the FBI, reinforce basic academic principles, help students practice responsible behavior, Internet safety, and encourage them to stay away from drugs and violence.

“The FBI is honored to work with MLK School on this new partnership,” said SAC Shields. “The goal of the Adopt-A-School Program is to have a positive impact on the lives of students today and the decisions they make for their futures, reinforcing good choices and setting goals.”

At the conclusion of the program, students will take a trip to tour the FBI Milwaukee Division, which includes a graduation ceremony and lunch sponsored by the Milwaukee Chapter of the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association.
