MADISON, WI—John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Peter Meeker, 48, and Karl Kreier, 28, Madison, Wis., were each sentenced today by U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson to 17 years and 1 month in prison for committing armed robberies of five businesses and for armed bank robbery. They both pleaded guilty to these charges on March 2, 2015.

Meeker and Kreier robbed the following businesses in 2014:

1. Willows Tavern, Willow Road, Township of Westport, Wis., on September 28;
2. Check n’ Go, Zeier Road, Madison, on October 4;
3. Super Cuts, Zeier Road, Madison, on October 7;
4. Subway, County Highway CS, Town of Dekorra, Wis., on October 8;
5. BP Gas Station, Main Street, Village of Dane, Wis., on October 9; and
6. Bank of Poynette—Harmony Grove Branch, Lodi, Wis., on October 11.

Meeker and Kreier were also ordered to pay restitution and their sentences will be followed by three-year terms of supervised release.

The charges against Meeker and Kreier were the result of an investigation conducted by the Columbia and Dane County Sheriffs’ Departments, Lodi and Madison Police Departments, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rita M. Rumbelow.
