Grand Jury Returns Indictments

MADISON, WI—A federal grand jury in the Western District of Wisconsin, sitting in Madison, returned the following indictments today. You are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
Reedsburg Man Charged with Child Pornography Crimes
Justin Bortz, 24, Reedsburg, Wisconsin, is charged with receiving and possessing child pornography. The indictment alleges that on August 19, 2012, he received computer video files that involved the use of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The indictment also alleges that on November 13, 2013, he possessed a computer containing visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
If convicted, Bortz faces a mandatory minimum penalty of five years and a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison. The charges against him are the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of this case will be handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie S. Pfluger.
Mexican Citizen Charged with Illegally Reentering the U.S.
Miguel Arreola-Avila, 39, a citizen of Mexico found in Blooming Grove, Wisconson, is charged with illegally reentering the United States after previously being deported. He was found in the United States on November 7, 2013.
If convicted, Arreola-Avila faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison. The charge against him is the result of an investigation by U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement. The prosecution of this case will be handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie S. Pfluger.
