Adams County Man Sentenced to Nine Years for Armed Bank Robbery

MADISON, WI—John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Randy Glenn Paulson, 58, of Friendship, Wisconsin, was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley to nine years in federal prison. He had previously pleaded guilty to one count of armed bank robbery and one count of using a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.
On October 16, 2013, Paulson appeared before Judge Conley and entered a plea of guilty to the two count indictment. During the plea hearing, Paulson admitted that on July 3, 2013, he entered the Grand Marsh State Bank, Grand Marsh, Wisconsin, armed with a firearm. He admitted that he pointed the firearm at the tellers and demanded cash from the teller drawers.
After obtaining cash from the bank tellers, Paulson approached a customer and demanded her car keys. When the customer did not respond, a bank teller volunteered her car keys, which Paulson took and left the bank. The teller’s vehicle was recovered a short distance from the bank. Paulson was arrested in Illinois on July 11, 2013.
The charges against Randy Glenn Paulson were the result of an investigation conducted by the Madison Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Adams County Sheriff’s Department, with assistance from the Villa Park (Illinois) Police Department and the Chicago Office of the FBI. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Grant C. Johnson.
