Director’s Award for Exceptional Service in the Public Interest

On August 4, 2012, Teresa L. Carlson, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the FBI Milwaukee Division, was honored to present the Director’s Award for Exceptional Service in the Public Interest to Allen R. Passehl, owner of the Classic Lanes Bowling Center in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

On Sunday, August 5, 2012, in the wake of the mass shooting at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Mr. Passehl temporarily closed his business, which is located directly across the road from the temple.  Mr. Passehl, without hesitation, graciously accommodated multiple local, state, and federal agencies to use his facility as a command post and family reunification center during the crisis.

“In addition to our law enforcement partners, we also have important partners in the community,” said SAC Carlson. “Mr. Passehl’s actions directly supported law enforcement’s efforts to respond to the tragedy at the Sikh Temple, and we applaud him on receiving this honorable recognition.”
