Sun Prairie Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Embezzlement

MADISON, WI—John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Lance E. Bauer, 26, Sun Prairie, Wis., pled guilty yesterday in U.S. District Court in Madison to embezzling funds from a Madison bank.

U.S. District Judge William M. Conley scheduled sentencing for April 25, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. Bauer faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison.

At the plea hearing Bauer admitted that while employed at Park Bank, Madison, he embezzled $227,764.54 from that institution.

The charge against Bauer was the result of an investigation conducted by the Madison office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Grant C. Johnson.
