Eau Claire Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Holcombe Bank Robbery

MADISON, WI—Erik C. Peterson, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Benjamin Erickson, 24, Eau Claire, Wis., was sentenced today by Chief U.S. District Judge Barbara B. Crabb to five years in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for bank robbery. Erickson pleaded guilty to this charge on January 13, 2009.

Erickson robbed the Dairyland State Bank, located on Highway 27 in Holcombe, Wis., on October 10, 2008. Following an investigation, he was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 3, 2008. He was arrested on December 4, 2008 in Eau Claire by federal and local law enforcement agents.

The charges against Erickson were the result of an investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Chippewa County Sheriff's Department, Eau Claire Police Department, and Cornell Police Department. The prosecution of the case has been handled by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen P. Sinnott.
