The FBI announces the arrest of Katie Kim-Sue Smith, 37, of West Palm Beach, Florida, for her alleged involvement in the June 25, 2014 hoax threat of the SunTrust Bank branch at 12780 Forrest Hill Blvd. in Wellington, Florida.

Smith was arrested without incident on July 9, 2014, at approximately 6:30 a.m. at her residence in West Palm Beach, Florida, by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), West Palm Beach Police Department, and the FBI.

Smith was taken into federal custody and is facing federal charges for conveying a hoax threat and interfering and obstructing with interstate commerce. She made her initial appearance in federal court today at 10 a.m. in West Palm Beach.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI continue their investigation.
