FBI Announces the Extradition of a Fugitive from Israel

FBI Miami February 14, 2013
  • Special Agent Michael D. Leverock (754) 703-2000

The FBI announces the return to the United States of fugitive Lawrence Seth Wayne after his arrest and extradition from Israel.

Wayne was convicted and adjudicated guilty on or about November 20, 1998, for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit of Florida. On the same day, he was sentenced to serve 19 years in prison. He later fled the country while on bond pending appeal.

He was located and arrested in Israel in 2010 and has been in custody since then.

The FBI is bringing Wayne back to the United States on an unlawful flight to avoid prosecution (UFAP) warrant.

Wayne is in federal custody and is facing federal charges. It is anticipated that he will have his initial appearance Friday morning (February 15, 2013) in federal court in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The FBI would like to thank the Israeli National Police, U.S. Marshals Service, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case.

No further information will be released at this time.
