FBI Offers $5,000 Reward for Information on Bank Robbery Suspect in 2011 Robbery

The FBI continues to seek the public’s assistance in solving two bank robberies: the January 24, 2011 robbery of a Bank Atlantic branch at 1190 SW 67th Ave. in Miami, Florida, and the June 26, 2011 robbery of a TD Bank branch at 720 NW 57th Ave. in Miami, Florida.

The FBI believes the same individual robbed both banks. The suspect was dubbed the “Backpack Bandit” for his use of a backpack in both robberies.

Bank Atlantic robbery:

Date/Time: January 24, 2011, at 11:45 a.m.
Bank Branch: Bank Atlantic
Address: 1190 SW 67th Avenue, Miami, Florida
Details: The robber entered the bank, displayed a handgun, ordered everyone inside the bank to lay on the ground, and demanded money from a bank employee. The robber fled the scene in a white colored van.

There is a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the individual responsible for the above robbery.

TD Bank robbery:

Date/Time: June 26, 2011, at 11:18 a.m.
Bank Branch: TD Bank
Address: 720 NW 57th Ave, Miami, Florida
Details: The robber entered the bank, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from a bank employee. Employees and a customer were forced to lay on the ground during the robbery. No one was injured and no shots were fired. The robber left the bank in a newer model SUV, light gold in color, dark tint, with a Florida license plate (no further details available).

The subject is described as follows:

White male, 6’0”-6’1” tall, 150-160 pounds, early- to mid-30s, with crooked teeth. He is called the “Backpack Bandit” by the FBI.

The FBI, Miami-Dade PD, City of Miami PD, and the South Florida Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force continue their investigation.
