Eight South Florida Men Charged in Drug Trafficking Conspiracy in Broward County

Wifredo A. Ferrer, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, and John V. Gillies, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Miami Field Office, announced that on July 15, 2010, Kevin Johnson, of Miramar, Desmond Bullock, of West Park, Odis Lumpkin, of Miami, Travis Baker, of Miami Gardens, Christopher Grayson, Jonathan Witherspoon, Jasmine Simmons, and Charles Bernard Walker, all of Hollywood, Florida, were arrested and charged for their for roles in a crack and cocaine trafficking organization that operated primarily in the Carver Ranches neighborhood in Southeast Broward County.

The indictment charges the defendants with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Section 846, and possession with intent to distribute cocaine, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Section 841 (a) (1). If convicted, the defendants face a maximum of life sentences.

This investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, the Broward Sheriff’s Office, and the Hollywood Police Department. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Yvonne Rodriguez-Shack.

An indictment is only an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
