Memphis Man Indicted for Child Sex/Human Trafficking

MEMPHIS—Laron Matlock, 31, of Memphis, Tennessee, has been charged in a three-count indictment for engaging in child sex/human trafficking in violation of Title 18 U.S.C. § 1591, announced Edward L. Stanton, III, United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.
The indictment alleges that Laron Matlock recruited and transported three individuals, one of whom was a minor, by force and caused them to engage in commercial sex acts.
The penalty for this violation is no less 15 years in prison, no more than a $250,000 fine, or both; a term of supervised release of not less than five years and up to life; together with a mandatory special assessment of $100.
This investigation was conducted by Special Agent Candida Rodriguez and Task Force Officer Richard Whitaker of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brian Coleman on behalf of the government.
An indictment is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
