Man Indicted for Bank Robbery

JACKSON, TN—TERRENCE HARDY, age 50, was indicted on July 19, 2010 by a federal grand jury on bank robbery charges, announced Lawrence J. Laurenzi, United States Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.
Hardy was charged in count one with the June, 2, 2010 robbery of First South Bank on Stonebrook Place in Jackson, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2113(a) and (d). A violation of this statute carries a penalty of not more than 25 years in federal prison. In count two, Hardy was charged with possessing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 924(c), which carries a sentence of not less than seven years consecutive to the sentence imposed in count one.
The investigation is being handled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Jackson Police Department, the Fort Walton Beach, Florida Police Department and the Picayune, Mississippi Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Victor L. Ivy is handling the prosecution for the government.
