Lexington Man Indicted for Robbing Maysville Bank

LEXINGTON—A Lexington man was indicted today for robbing a Maysville bank last month.

A federal grand jury in Lexington returned an indictment charging 35-year-old Patrick Andrew Donald with bank robbery.

The indictment alleges that on May 16, Donald and an accomplice robbed the Security Bank and Trust Co. in Maysville, Kentucky, taking $19,000. The indictment also alleges that Donald used a dangerous weapon or device in committing the robbery.

Kerry B. Harvey, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Perrye K. Turner, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation; and Ron Rice, Chief of Police, Maysville Police Department, jointly made the announcement today after a federal grand jury in Lexington returned the indictment.

The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Division of Police, and the Maysville Police Department. The indictment was presented to the grand jury by Assistant United States Attorney Kenneth R. Taylor.

Donald’s appearance before the United States District Court has not yet been set. If convicted, Donald faces a maximum prison sentence of 25 years. However, any sentence following conviction would be imposed by the court after consideration of the United States Sentencing Guidelines and the federal statute governing the imposition of sentences.

The indictment of a person by a grand jury is an accusation only, and that person is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
