Former Athletic Director of Private Elementary School Sentenced to 27 Months for Embezzling Athletic Fees
Ordered to Pay $239,955 in Restitution

LOUISVILLE, KY—Patricia R. Willinger, age 63, of Louisville, Kentucky, was sentenced to 27 months’ imprisonment and ordered to pay $239,955 in restitution after pleading guilty to mail fraud announced United States Attorney David J. Hale of the Western District of Kentucky.

Willinger plead guilty to a one-count Information filed against her on October 26, 2009, by the United States Attorney. In court Willinger admitted that during a six-year period, while employed as the athletic director for the Sacred Heart Model School, she misappropriated for her personal benefit and gain a substantial number of checks received from parents of students attending the school and the Catholic School Athletic Association. These monies, totaling $239,955, were intended for the benefit of the Sacred Heart Model School as fees for athletic programs sponsored by the school or to reimburse the school for expenses it incurred when it sponsored such programs.

Willinger was sentenced by Judge Charles R. Simpson, III in United States District Court, Louisville, Kentucky.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jim Lesousky and it was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
