  • Eastern District of Kentucky (859) 233-2661

LEXINGTON—A federal judge sentenced a former Boy Scout leader and volunteer middle school teacher in Irvine, Ky. to 235 months in prison for producing and possessing child pornography.

United States District Judge Karl Forrester sentenced Robert G. Dundon, 56, of Lexington, pleaded guilty on April 22 to the charges.

Dundon admitted that in June 2010, he took photographs of a minor child engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The pictures were taken at his business and part time residence, Dundon’s Press, located in Estill County. He stored these images on his computer and camera cards.

Dundon further admitted that he also possessed 22,5000 images of child pornography. According to his plea agreement, Dundon admitted he was pedophile and had been downloading child pornography since 1995 or 1996.

Dundon acknowledged that he is a former volunteer at Estill County Middle School and is a former Boy Scout leader in both Fayette and Estill Counties.

A federal grand jury indicted Dundon in February 2011. A man notified Kentucky State Police last year when he noticed Dundon photographing nude minors at Fort Boonesborough Beach in Madison County.

Kerry B. Harvey, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Elizabeth A. Fries, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and Rodney Brewer, Commissioner, Kentucky State Police, jointly made the announcement today after Dundon entered his guilty plea.

The investigation was conducted by the Kentucky State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The United States was represented in the case by Assistant United States Attorney Lindsay Hughes Thurston.

This case was brought by Project Safe Childhood (PSC), a nationwide initiative started in 2006 that strives to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. PSC marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children. For information please visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
